I saw my Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) doctor for a two-month follow-up appointment this past July to see how using Dupixent was going and what the inside of my nose was looking like. I couldn’t wait to share that I could smell again and without steroids! I shared that I have been diligently sticking to the self-administered Dupixent shot routine every two weeks with no issues and no side effects. My doctor examined my nose and told me it was the best he had ever seen my nose! Of course, I followed up with “…in 17 years,” which is wild. In addition, my doctor said he couldn’t see any nasal polyps and if they were up there, they were hiding. We bypassed the fun part where my doctor usually puts two pieces of cotton with “some liquid” that allows a better view of inside my nose. I was so grateful he didn’t have to do it because I’ve always disliked every bit of it as the cotton goes way up my nose for a couple of minutes (so uncomfortable) then it’s taken out for viewing. There’s nothing like having cotton shoved up high inside your nostril. This was a great sign that it wasn’t done. My doctor said that we could take a break and he’ll just call to check up on me in a couple months. Something I’ve heard my doctor tell me before. It took me a minute to realize that I had no follow-up appointment, no bad news, just all wonderful news. This is all I ever wanted…to smell again.

I’ve tried many things: steroids (oral and spray), many nasal sprays (Flonase, Nasonex, etc.), antibiotics, two nasal polypectomies (nasal polyp removal surgery), and some had fun side effects. Dupixent has been a blessing. If you are experiencing chronic sinusitis or have nasal polyps and have never heard of Dupixent or know someone, I recommend sharing or reading more about Dupixent, consulting with an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor about the possibility of getting prescribed it, and discussing the possible side effects. I know everybody is different but still wanted to share my story of how Dupixent has been working for me and changed my life. There are also stories of real patients who had nasal polyps and used Dupixent. My doctor and I don’t know what it will look like long term but we shall see. I usually give myself the Dupixent shot on the same day I give myself allergy shots. Yes, my allergist lets me self-administer my allergy shots now too. I feel like a winner with all this flexibility and freedom to not have to drive to the offices to get shots anymore on top of just being able to smell again and not really wondering when it will go away after taking steroids. In conclusion, Dupixent is legit. I testify that it is working magic and allowing me to smell every day from sunrise to sunset (bad smells and all)…all day every day.
