On my search to make sense of this scentless life of mine, I discovered Fifth Sense and a lot more started making more sense to me about anosmia. Founded by Duncan Boak in 2012, Fifth Sense is a UK-based charity organization that provides support and advice to people around the world like me affected by smell and taste-related disorders so that society can understand what it means to suffer impairment of one or both of these senses.
I’m excited to serve as a Public Ambassador and be connected to a community of people with a mission to raise anosmia awareness. In this official role, I will continue to share my personal experiences with anosmia while helping Fifth Sense reach their strategic goals to increase awareness and understanding of their work.
Fifth Sense’s strategy for achieving our goals is to address the lack of understanding within society of the role that the senses of smell and taste play in our lives, which is a major reason for the lack of the appreciation of the impact that disorders of these senses can have on sufferers.
Fifth Sense Strategy and Vision
Discussions and news topics about the loss of sense of smell and taste have been more prevalent than ever in the midst of this coronavirus pandemic, which shows the importance of anosmia awareness and organizations like Fifth Sense. I really appreciate their work and the support they give us anosmics. It’s an honor to be part of their vision and use my platform to raise more anosmia awareness.
