My recent summer trip to Cancún, Mexico was so marvelous that I was able to slightly smell, breathe pretty well, and taste my food while there. Did I ever mention that I feel like I’m on top of the world when I’m able to smell?

I have travelled to nine countries since I’ve been an Anosmic and never fully tasted the food on my trips. Until this one! I’ve shared how good food was from past trips, but that was totally my mediocre taste buds talking. The food in Mexico was absolutely delicioso!

Now, how was I able to smell a little while I was soaking up the sun for five days? Let’s see…
Could it have been the sea salt water? Sea salt can work some magic with its healing powers. It hasn’t worked magic as a nasal rinse for me yet. But I got more than enough water in my nose while snorkeling.

Could it have been the semi-tropical weather? The weather was quite lovely, minus the days I was literally melting… Like standing still and sweat just dripping right off kind of melting. The climate makes me wonder.

Could it have been the environment? There’s something about the sky, the birds, the trees, and being surrounded by water.
If only I really knew what triggered my sense of smell. All I can say is that I enjoyed that moment.
My smell was gone before the plane even landed in D.C. I just wish it didn’t “stay” in Cancún and couldn’t keep that experience to myself.
