making sense out a scentless life

Tomorrow, February 27 is Anosmia Awareness Day. This day always creeps up real quick. I’m no longer writing “Happy” in front of it because not everything is happy about Anosmia to me. While I am thankful there is a day designated to acknowledge anosmia to raise awareness, nothing is happy about losing your sense of smell – IMO. So many people are losing their sense of smell to COVID and I can’t imagine that being a happy experience. But I am glad I found a community of people living with anosmia to know I’m never alone and who just “get it.” If you have a sense of smell you can still support us by listening, educating yourself about anosmia, showing empathy, and being our designated noses. I, along with other Fifth Sense Ambassadors, created a video with personal messages to everyone affected by smell and taste disorders.
